Last Week in Pony - March 10, 2024

It was a generally slow week in Pony. No major pull requests, releases or whatnot. Everyone is off mostly concentrating on the jobs that pay them. Perhaps you can pick up some items from good first issues and fill the gap?

Items of Note

Pony Development Sync

The recording of the March 5th, 2024 sync is available.

Office Hours

Adrian, Red, and I had a good meeting that lasted about 90 minutes. We discussed memory allocation and garbage collection in Pony. We also discussed garbage collection “in general” and touched on compacting garbage collectors and why Pony doesn’t relocate objects or any other form of compaction.

We also discussed a few key points about designing good benchmarks. And discussed in some depth the struct keyword and how it’s used in Pony.
